Female D1 Football Clubs Receive Subvention
Eight clubs of the division one female football have received a subvention of FCFA 1million and two balls each from the national football body, FECAFOOT.
The subvention was handed over by the first Vice President of FECAFOOT, Dr Francis Mveng to the President of the FECAFOOT Female Football Commission, Rose Nyobe for the club presidents on October 14.
Receiving the subvention on behalf of the club presidents Nyobe situated the subvention within the context of complaints by club president of being unable to financially sustain themselves throughout the season.
Though FECAFOOT has been taking care of transportation, the presidents came to a realization that their finances could not take them through the away league as well as the return league due to other charges.
A subvention is a support to the clubs and this was necessary to avoid match forfeitures, Nyobe explained.
Evaluating the Division one season, she said it was mainly experimental for the teams with some problems encountered which are going to be corrected during the next season.
The clubs engaged in the championship without really knowing the stakes and the challenges of being in the division, she stated. Nyobe expressed the need for D1 clubs have sponsors to be able to meet the expenses and stay afloat during the competitions.
